Introduction Courses

What's an introductory course all about?

Well, it's probably the ultimate outdoor activity and it's open to anyone who can drive, whether you are 17 or 70 the sensation of driving a single seater racing car on a circuit can be yours. However you need to be able to use a manual gearbox. The day is exciting and fun and guaranteed to get the adrenalin flowing.

The school will provide you with a crash helmet along with race overalls. However we recommend you bring a pair of flat shoes (not bulky trainers). The school does provide gloves but if you have your own, suitable for driving, as with the helmet, you are welcome to use your own personal equipment.

Formula A £167.00*

Course content will include a saloon car demonstration and instruction laps with a qualified racing instructor. This will be followed by a comprehensive briefing covering the basic driving of a single seater racing car including safety, cornering lines, gear changing, general track behaviour and discipline.

Next, it's your turn to drive. This is a saloon car lapping session and marked by your own personal professional instructor. The instructor will of course tutor you during the exercise. The marks awarded to you during the session will help us access your general aptitude.

The next step is a single seater, race specification Formula Ford. You will receive instruction on controls, driving position etc. You then begin your lapping session that consists of 7 Laps, following one of our instructors who will be driving another racing car (the pace car) Upon completion of your lapping session there is an informal debrief. The "pace car" far from slowing you down helps you lap faster and more smoothly. This is a proven method, pioneered by Race School Ireland and has influenced race training all over the world.

Formula B £247.00*

Offers more scope and excellent value for money. This includes the Formula A course as listed, but takes you a stage further with another lapping session of 6 laps at increased speed, after which your instructor will discuss any points or problems. You will find that the knowledge and confidence gained during the initial session will increase your enjoyment in this second run.

Formula Plus £327.00*

A more comprehensive introductory course. The format is as Formula B then a further briefing as this session is on your own with no pace car to follow. There is much more to think about, and our instructors will be assessing individual potential during this 5 lap session.

Formula Super Plus Course £427.00*

This is the ultimate and most comprehensive introductory course. This course includes the Formula A, B and Plus courses. A short briefing is then given and you transfer to the 130 bhp Zip Formula single seater racing car and you are out on track for a fantastic experience of an 7-lap timed session after which there is a de-brief and review of your driving style and techniques. Following this your certificate will be presented.

Radical 2-Seater Sports Racing Car

High speed open 2-seater racing car rides are available ( also bookable on the day). The thrill of lapping the circuit as a passenger with a professional instructor, is not only available to the participating driver, but to family and friends who may come along as a spectator.
 

* Vehicle Insurance - Please Note

The prices above include VAT. An excess of £500 applies for any driver damaging a car. However this can be negated with full vehicle insurance cover, which is an additional £20.00. This can be paid for (a) at the time of purchase of the Gift Voucher, (b) when the booking date is confirmed or (c) on the actual race day with the Co-ordinator at Sign on.

It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure they have taken out the insurance before they go out for the Saloon Car Assessment.

Drivers who have reached a reasonable standard on our introductory sessions may wish to progress to our more advanced courses.

These courses have been carefully designed to allow you to as much time as you wish without pressure.

All laps will be timed and the instruction will be tailored to suit your ability and aspirations

Race School Ireland Licensed Instructors

All the instructors are very experienced in their particular field and are currently or have previously enjoyed race and championship success up to and including Formula One.

Your instructor will work with you to help you improve your track performance.

Race Training courses are not only ideal for the would-be racing driver but are also ideal for the driver using the school as a hobby in itself.

Race School Ireland Certificates

Upon satisfactory completion of the course of your choice you will receive your personal Race School Ireland Certificate.
